The countdown to 2022 is two days away, and many people are making plans to go into the New Year with a bang. For years, many across the globe have used firework displays to mark the start of the New Year. If you plan on lighting up the sky with fireworks this weekend, we’ve put together a list of local stands to make your shopping experience easier.

Louisiana Fireworks- 4894 LA-182. Open from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.  Louisiana Fireworks has been proudly serving our great state for over 40 years, offering a huge selection of world class brand fireworks including Excalibur Artillery Shells, One Bad Mother, Loyal To None, and much more, at over 30 locations, including Houma.

Danielle Duet, Manager of the Terrebonne location said the store’s sales have increased tremendously since the 2021 holiday season. “Sales have been well, considering the hurricane and everything going on, I was shocked with the number of sales we have so far,” said Duet.

Duet said the store’s artillery fireworks are the customer’s favorite. “Our customers love Growler and Excalibur Platinum, everybody has been coming in and asking for those because they’re pretty much waking the neighbors up loud,” she explained.

“My personal favorite is The Heartland Pride, it includes 126 shots, it goes up to 150 feet high, and it lasts for about 50 seconds, I love it.”

Big Tops Fireworks – 4296 US-90. Open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Big Tops Fireworks is locally-owned and operated, offering a plethora of fireworks for all ages. The firework stand offers a wide variety of fireworks including sparklers, ground spinners, smoke bombs, and novelty fireworks. Fireworks at Big Tops range between $1 – $300. Customers can enjoy 50-70 percent off of all items.

“As of lately, we’ve been selling a lot of capes and artillery shells,” said Kent Smith, Manager of Big Tops firework stand. “Those are the ones that go up and bang in the sky, you get a big bang for your buck with those.”

Cajun Fireworks-2903 Highway 316, Gray and 4933 Highway- 182, Houma. Open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Founded in 2010, Cajun Fireworks operates two stands, in Houma and Gray, offering customers the lowest prices guaranteed. Customers can choose from cool items including Hot Tamale, Spectacular Morgan, Sky High, and Black Panther.

Houma Manager Sally Prasseaux said although their store was damaged by IDA, the company was adamant about returning for their loyal customers. “We’ve been in business for over 30 years, we had a building next door but the storm took it from us so we had to get this tent,” said Prasseaux. “Hopefully we’ll get our building back soon, we’re just getting started. We still have our regular customers coming in and purchasing their fireworks, and we’re so thankful for them,” Prasseaux added.

Like LA Fireworks and Big Tops, Cajun Fireworks dubbed artillery shells as their best-selling fireworks. Prasseaux suggests Spectacular Morgan and Sky High, to those who are looking for a bright display and explosive sound.

Pyro Chuck Fireworks- 4428 Highway 90 East. Open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Pyro Chucks Wholesale Fireworks offers great deals and a way to make your holiday unforgettable. Black Cat, an award-winning product, is Pyro Chucks best selling item. Pyro Chuck says they are currently the only store to have a wide selection of Black Cat products while also offering popular fireworks including Aerial Attack, Clue 54, Balls of Fury, and Military Grenades.

“We’re doing well this year, we have a lot of different stock, with a lot of bigger items for customers to choose from.” Chelsea Richard, Manager of Pyro Chucks Des Allemands location. “We have a lot of artillery items, which are our top sellers, which makes me really excited.”

“We have everything, ranging from $1.25 -$300, it just depends on what you’re looking for. Our artillery sells like crazy, the people come in looking for the stuff that goes high, and burst big,” Richard added.

Champs Fireworks-1375 HWY 3087 E, Houma. Open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Offering a full-line of consumer fireworks, Champs offers the best items from each of the major brands-Brothers, Pyrotechnics, Shogun, Cannon, and Black Cat. Manager Devin Johnson said, “We have amazing deals on everything, with buy one, get one free, besides artillery products.” Firework kits, sparklers, fountains, bangs, snaps, and party poppers are also listed as buy one, get one free. Prices at Champs range between $1-$300.

Johnson said the business has seen a tremendous increase in sales, compared to last year’s business after the Covid shutdowns. “Sales have increased amazingly since last year, we’ve seen more people come out to purchase fireworks compared to last year.” Johnson said he is confident customers will be satisfied with Champs products, and he looks forward to contributing to many families having a memorable New Year.
