The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force will conduct a Child Safety Seat Check-up event Saturday, Jan. 15, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Target store at 1727 Martin Luther King Blvd. Houma, LA.

96% of child safety seats are not correctly used. Misuse of child safety seats can be attributed to the variety of child seats available and the variety of vehicles on the market today. This child safety seat check-up can help prevent the misuse of child seats by educating the public on the proper seat and installation for the vehicle being used.

This event is being done as part of a 40-hour “National Standardized Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician Program.” This event will allow for certified child safety seat technicians to assist parents and caregivers with the proper information and installation regarding a child safety seat in vehicles. In addition, certified technicians will provide life saving information as to what child safety seat should be utilized in regards to age, weight, and height limits.

This service is provided free of charge, and everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
