Fletcher Technical Community College is offering classes to help local prepare for a critical licensing exam.

The Louisiana Contractors Accreditation Institute is providing a six-week course across the state with information on construction management and the state’s General Contractors State Licensing Exam. The course is open to construction-based Louisiana businesses and anyone with an interest in starting one.

The course runs from Oct. 2 through Nov. 8 with two-hour evening sessions twice a week. The course is offered via interactive distance learning to different technical community colleges across the state. The sessions will touch on topics such as contract management, bid process, risk management, occupational safety as well as others.

Registration for the accreditation classes ends on Sept. 11, and program availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost is $200 per participant. Interested contractors can register for the Fletcher classes online by visiting fletcher.edu/lcai. For more information, contact Catherine Barber, director of grant writing initiatives at Fletcher, at (985) 448-5916.
