Superintendent Philip Martin released a message to parents in the Terrebonne Parish School District on Friday, February 28 regarding Coronavirus precautions as students returned to school today.

His message is here in full:

“Dear Parents,

The Coronavirus has become a health concern worldwide. Although there are no cases in Louisiana, we will follow precautions as advised by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and our local and state health officials.

Currently, the protocols are very similar to flu precautions:

• Cover coughs and sneezes
• Wash hands often
• If sick, stay home – (Absences due to illness are excused)
• Avoid sharing personal household items such as cups, glasses, and eating utensils
• Cleaning/disinfecting of frequently touched objects

Your child’s health is our highest priority. The school district will continue to closely monitor this situation and take all appropriate actions as needed.”
