At-large suspect in Houma murder arrested in Houston

An at-large Houma man who allegedly killed a man earlier this month was located in Houston and arrested, according to the Houma Police Department.

Jerome Anthony Jones, 22, of Thomas Drive, was arrested Thursday in Houston after a brief foot pursuit. Jones, charged with an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder, will be extradited to Houma, where he will be incarcerated in lieu of a $2 million bond.

Jones is the primary suspect in the death of Ron Pierre, 40, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a residence at 133 Whispering Oaks Trailer Park on May 15.

Detectives with the Houma Police Department and the Louisiana State Police continued to investigate the alleged homicide and determined Jones was in Houston. HPD worked with the Houma Police Department in finding and arresting Jones, police said.

Four men charged in dramatic armed-robbery case

Four Raceland men were arrested Friday in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a Raceland residence around midnight that morning, according to the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

LPSO spokesman Brennan Matherne said three subjects dressed in black and wearing masks approached a Raceland man as he walked to his car on Louisiana Street shortly after midnight. The suspects allegedly took his car keys and wallet before forcing the man back inside.

Once inside, the suspects located the eldest of three juveniles and threatened the child at gunpoint, Matherne said. Once the suspect turned his attention to the adult male, the juvenile escaped to the bathroom with two siblings, locked the door and later fled out the bathroom window to a neighbor’s house.

The suspects then beat the adult male with fists and firearms, Matherne said.

Ronzell Collins, 22, of 3722 La. Highway 1, Lot 3; Devin Ingram, 20, of 138 Charles Ave.; Jeremy Jones, 27, of 433 Triple Oaks Drive; and Donaldnika Morris, 25, of 572 St. Louis St., were arrested and each charged with armed robbery and aggravated burglary.

Jones criminal history dates back nine years and includes 10 prison stays and 15 previous arrests for a number of charges, including attempted second-degree murder, Matherne said.

Collins has been arrested 15 times before the latest incident, including charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, home invasion and several battery and drug charges, Matherne said.

Ingram was arrested 21 previous times, mostly for contempt of court relating to traffic violations, Matherne said.

Morris has been to prison 12 times and has 12 arrests dating back to 2005, mostly for various drug charges and contempt charges, Matherne said.

Although the investigation is ongoing, Matherne said detectives believe three of the men participated in the robbery while the other drove the vehicle.

The suspects had fled the scene, after taking a handgun, cellphone and other items from the residence, before deputies arrived. Deputies received a description of the vehicle and later were notified that the vehicle and subjects in question were at a Raceland truck stop.

All four men were in the vehicle when deputies arrived, and were detained at an LPSO substation in Lockport for questioning, Matherne said.

The victim’s cellphone was recovered in the vehicle, and shoe prints outside of the home matched shoes worn by the suspects.

“This was simply phenomenal police work,” Sheriff Craig Webre said Friday. “This is an example of why it is so important that we get as much information about a crime or suspected crime as soon as possible. Because we received timely, accurate information, we were able to locate and arrest the suspects about an hour after the incident occurred.”

Man arrested for indecent behavior with male juvenile

A 51-year-old Chauvin man was arrested last Tuesday for allegedly touching a 13-year-old male in an inappropriate manner at a family gathering.

Scotty Mark Coleman, of 202 Effie St., was arrested and charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile. He posted a $25,000 bond, was released and is scheduled for arraignment on July 12.

The incident allegedly occurred on May 6. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant after a parent informed police of the incident, according to Terrebonne Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois.

Two arrested in home invasion case

Two Dulac women were arrested last week after they allegedly entered a residence and attacked an 18-year-old victim on May 21, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois announced.

Lana Renea Eskind, 24, of 3777 Grand Caillou Rd., was arrested May 24 and released the next day after posting a $25,000 bond, Bourgeois said.

Stephanie Lynn Dion, 25, of 6619 Shrimpers Row, turned herself in May 25 after learning there was a warrant for her arrest, Bourgeois said. Dion was also released after posting a $25,000 bond.

Bourgeois said the victim suffered facial and head injuries and was treated at Terrebonne General Hospital. The suspects allegedly entered her residence through an unlocked door before attacking her. The victim is said to believe the suspects were looking for her sister.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 876-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433.

Citizen tips lead to theft arrests, incluing porn-shop pillage

Two citizen tips were credited for providing the information leading to two arrests in separate cases last week. Both tips were received through Bayou Region Crime Stoppers, Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Brennan Matherne said.

William Lala, 21, of 205 Duet St., Houma, was arrested May 29 and charged with theft over $500, unauthorized use of an access card, simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling and six counts of simple burglary.

Lala was wanted in connection with a string of thefts and burglaries in the Bayou Blue area that occurred in April, Matherne said. He had active warrants totaling $130,000.

Dylan Rogers, 19, of 133 Bon Jovi Blvd., Gray; Cassidy G. Olivier, 21, of 100 Cottonwood Drive, Houma; and Clint E. Chauvin, 19, 131 Wilderness Lane, Houma were previously arrested in connection with the burglaries.

In the second case, John Cross, 32, and Jennifer Cross, 32, both of 1300 Ridgefield Ave., Thibodaux, were arrested May 30 for their alleged burglary of an adult novelty shop on U.S. Highway 90 in Des Allemands earlier this month.

John Cross is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond, per a warrant, and Jennifer Cross was released after posting a $10,000 bond.

An anonymous tipster identified the couple from photos released to the public last week, Matherne said. The stolen materials were recovered.

Houma man faces attempted second-degree murder charge

A Houma man will be charged with attempted second-degree murder after he receives treatment and is released from the hospital stemming from a frenetic domestic dispute inside a moving vehicle that crashed into a Grand Caillou Road business, according to the Houma Police Department.

Nolan Sims, Jr., 38, of 431 Columbus St., was chasing the victim after the car he was driving crashed into the sidewall of Advanced Auto Parts, according to HPD spokesman Lt. Dana Coleman.

While in pursuit, Sims tripped and fell against a curb in the Burger King parking lot and suffered a severe head injury, Coleman said. Police are in the process of obtaining the arrest warrants.

The victim, who sought refuge inside Burger King, suffered stab wounds to her chest, lacerations to her left leg, bite marks to her left arm and wounds to both hands, Coleman said. She fled the vehicle after it crashed and was later hospitalized for treatment of her injuries, according to police.

Police responded to the scene at 1:20 a.m. Monday morning.

Machete-wielding man booked for aggravated assualt

A 51-year-old Houma man who wielded a machete while drunk in public and threatening a female victim will be charged with multiple offenses, according to the Houma Police Department.

Michael Amacker, of Academy Street, was charged with aggravated assault, disturbing the peace by intoxication and illegal carrying of a weapon, HPD Chief Todd Duplantis said.

Amacker allegedly used vulgar language toward the victim, who was unharmed, and held the machete in the air.

When police arrived to the 1100 block of Lafayette Street at about 11:14 p.m. Sunday night, the machete was tucked inside Amacker’s pants, the handle sticking out, and the suspect was holding an alcoholic beverage, Duplantis said.

The machete was confiscated as evidence, and Amacker was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he awaits trial or bond.
