Suspects nabbed for card fraud

A mother and son were arrested by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives Aug. 20, and charged with unauthorized use of credit cards after racking up expenses totaling more than $20,000.


According to Sheriff Jerry Larpenter, Claude Peter Autin Jr., 29, and his mother, Phyllis Ann Autin, 50, of 409 Overton Dr., Houma, were apprehended after detective received a telephone tip from a supposed victim living in Georgia.


“The victim informed the deputy that she was contacted by her bank, [and told] someone had called and requested an address change on her account,” Larpenter said in a news release. “Detectives received additional complaints during the next two weeks.”

Investigators found that multiple credit cards were being mailed to the suspects under different peoples’ names. Larpenter said the cards were used to purchase electronic equipment and cell phones, a majority of which were mailed overseas.


The Autins were taken into custody and are being held at the Terrebonne Parish Jail, each on a $10,000 bond.


Houma man charged with rape of minor

A Houma man was arrested by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office juvenile detectives on Aug. 16, and charged with the rape of a 12-year-old girl.


Joshua Fitch, 26, of 318 Jane Ave., Houma, was charged with the alleged rape after the girl’s guardians told officers that their daughter had been engaged in a sexual relationship with a family friend that dated back two years. According to authorities, the suspect posted messages detailing his sexual encounters with the girl on Facebook.


Fitch has been charged with one count of aggravated rape, one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of computer-aided solicitation of a minor. The suspect is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where he is awaiting a bond hearing.

Domestic violence being reviewed


An alleged case of domestic violence and burglary is under investigation by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. According to Sheriff Jerry Larpenter, deputies responded to a call on Aug. 18, at 120 Carolo St. in Houma.


Upon arrival, deputies were told that Michael Lee McPherson, 44, of 120 St. Louis St. in Houma, went into a violent and destructive rage, prompting his 41-year-old former girlfriend, whose name was not disclosed, to flee her home.

McPherson had also allegedly left angry voice mail messages, and threatened the woman’s daughter by allegedly holding a knife to her throat.


Already in violation of a protective order, McPherson had added to his arrest warrant, charges of aggravated burglary. The suspect was located working in Jennings on Aug. 22 and taken into custody.


McPherson is being held in the Terrebonne Parish Jail on a $500,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Oct. 4. Detectives ask anyone with information in this case to call (985) 876-2500.

DWI charges mount for driver


Luis Enrique Gutierrez-Saucedo, 24, of Lake Long Drive in Houma, was arrested on a fourth DWI by Houma Police on Aug. 21.


According to HPD Officer Wayne Anderson, the suspect was observed driving a 2006 Honda Accord north on Van Avenue with a burnt headlamp.

Anderson made a traffic stop and detected a strong order of alcohol on the suspect’s breath. He then noticed an open beer bottle inside the vehicle.


Field sobriety tests were conducted which the driver failed, according to police. The driver also did not have an operator’s license with him, proof of insurance, registration papers or license plates on the vehicle.


Gutierrez-Saucedo was placed under arrest and transported to the Houma Police Department where a chemical intoxication test was conducted, resulting in blood alcohol levels reading 0.182g.

Gutierrez-Saucedo was previously arrested for DWI on July 20, 2009, Aug. 23, 2009 and Feb. 18, 2012. He had outstanding warrants against him for failure to appear in court, hit and run, having no license plate, careless operation of a motor vehicle and having an open container inside a motor vehicle. The suspect is being held in the Terrebonne Parish Jail awaiting bond.


Raceland man arrested on drug, contempt charges


A Raceland man was arrested on several drug distribution charges and an outstanding contempt warrant by Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force agents recovered more than $36,000 in cash and illegal drugs on Aug. 21.

Deon Charles, 22, of 100 Kahn Street, was apprehended by narcotics agents and Thibodaux Police after being observed driving a vehicle on Williams Street. He was wanted for contempt of court and failure to appear at a child support hearing.


When Charles was stopped for a traffic violation, agents and a patrol deputy noticed the suspect disposing of a clear plastic bag, which contained a white residue, believed to be crack cocaine. The substance also appeared on the suspect’s clothes. A pat-down search also resulted in officers finding $1,880.00 in Charles’ pocket.


Agents then secured a search warrant for Charles’ home, where they allegedly located and recovered 33.5 grams of additional crack cocaine, 24.55 grams of suspected heroin, 10 Suboxone strips, a Roxicodone pill and an additional $26,100 in cash.

Agents recovered a $27,980 in cash and illegal narcotics with a street value of more than more than $8,500 during the search of the suspect’s vehicle and home.


Charles was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Bond was set at $64,500 by Judge F. Hugh Larose.

Man by-passes ignition interlock, gets DWI

A Broussard man was arrested for second-offense DWI after cranking his vehicle despite having an ignition interlock device

Jake Thomas Richard, 24, of 311 East 4th St. Apt. D in Broussard, was arrested by Thibodaux Police around 1 a.m., Aug. 22, after officers on Canal Boulevard noticed Richard’s license plate light wasn’t working.

Richard told officers he had been drinking and was “mechanically inclined.”

After failing a field sobriety test with a blood alcohol level of 0.178g, Richard was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of bond

Protective order violation leads to arrest

A Thibodaux man faces multiple charges after law enforcement officers arrested him for violating a protective order.

Orenthal Martin, 32, of 1134 Tiger Drive, was arrested on Aug. 23 after an incident the previous night that included alleged child endangerment, domestic abuse, battery and theft charges.

On Aug. 22, the victim claimed to have discovered Martin, who she had a relationship in the past, hiding in her home. The victim attempted to call the authorities, but Martin took the woman’s phone and bit her in front of her three children.

Martin allegedly fled the home before officers arrived, but officers later obtained warrants for his arrest.

Martin was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and is being held on bonds totaling $14,500.

Suicide threat leads to arrest

A Thibodaux man was arrested on several charges on Aug. 21, after having threatened to take his own life.

Donnie Glynn, 28, of 1202 Lafourche Drive was charged with domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer, no driver’s license, first-offense DWI and felony possession of marijuana.

According to the complainant, Glynn, who was to complete parole in November for burglary, came to her home irate then threatened to kill himself, his family and police.

Glynn allegedly grabbed the victim by the face and threw her before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Glynn later returned to the residence, where officers were waiting, but refused to exit the vehicle.

Officers subdued the suspect following a physical altercation. Glynn later tested for a blood alcohol content and registered at 0.103. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of bond.

DWI includes drug bust

Two Thibodaux men were stopped on DWI suspicion, but had narcotics charges placed on them once police discovered thier haul.

Donald Harry Jr., 40, of 2700 Ridgefield in Thibodaux was stopped by Thibodaux Police while operating a Jeep Cherokee on Good Street.

Officers believed Harry was driving impaired and conducted a field sobriety test, which he failed. Police also smelled marijuana in the vehicle, and noticed Harry’s passenger, Ron Baptiste attempting to hide something.

After further investigation, police located marijuana and cocaine inside the vehicle. Both suspects admitted to smoking marijuana and were arrested. They were then transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in lieu of bonds.

Pair arrested in home invasion

Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two suspects after responding to a home invasion call in Gray on Aug. 22.

According the Sheriff Jerry Larpenter, Jason Paul Cenac, 22, of 129 Winfield Blvd., Houma, and Celeste Nicole White, 18, of 312 S. Central Blvd., Houma, were charged with home invasion after breaking into the residence of an unidentified 23-year-old male at the Eureka Apartments in Gray.

Authorities said that the victim was inside his apartment when the door opened and one of the suspects began fighting with him, causing minor injuries.

White is allegedly the victim’s former girlfriend and current partner of Cenac.

White told deputies she was upset because the victim had a nude photo of her and sent it to Cenac.

White and Cenac were booked at the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
