Two nabbed, one at large in weekend murder

Two suspects are in custody and another is at large after a weekend murder in Houma.

Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis said that officers were called to 526 Louise St. in reference to a shooting.

Once on the scene, officers located a male victim suffering from a single gunshot wound in the chest.

He was identified as Vincent Andrew Naquin, 20, of Houma.

Upon investigation, authorities said three black male suspects had entered the residence, confronted the victim and shot him.

HPD obtained video footage of the suspects entering and exiting the residence, which developed suspects in the case.

After detectives spoke to witnesses, Treyvance Fanguy, 18, of 313 Hellier St., Kevone J. Cook, 20, of 121 Riley Drive and Lamont James Nixon Jr., 21, of 189 Porche Lane were identified as suspects in the case.

On Saturday after being named suspects, Fanguy and Cook turned themselves into authorities on charges of second-degree murder and armed robbery.

Nixon remains at large.

Authorities said anyone with information is asked to call the Houma Police Department or Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at (800) 743-7433.

Trio of weekend shootings in Terrebonne

Terrebonne sheriff’s deputies were kept busy this weekend.

A Gray native was shot in the hand after he fought with another black male in Schriever Friday night. The victim said the shooter fled in a light colored Honda.

Additional details are being withheld by authorities, as the incident is still under investigation.

The second shooting occurred around 5 p.m. Saturday in Gibson. Tellis Matthews, 62, of 4212 Southdown Mandalay Road, allegedly shot another man. The victim told deputies the two fought after he confronted Matthews about selling drugs illegally. Matthews reportedly pulled out a .22-caliber rifle and fired two shots. One round hit the victim’s vehicle as he drove away.

Matthews was arrested for aggravated criminal damage to property and aggravated assault with a firearm. His bond is set at $100,000.

The third incident occurred around 8 p.m. Sunday and involved several gunshot being fired in the Johnson Ridge area. A woman told deputies a man in a Honda fired multiple rounds from a handgun as she was driving on Livas Lane. She said three black men were inside the car.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers or the TPSO at (985) 876-2500.

Arrest made in Waffle House shooting

An arrest has been made in last Sunday’s triple shooting in the Waffle House parking lot in Gray.

Three bystanders were injured around 2 a.m. when a gunman – later identified as Larry Chatman, 22, of Al Joseph Lane, Thibodaux – pulled a gun and fired several times into a crowd of about 100 people.

The sheriff’s office said a 27-year-old New Orleans woman was grazed in the chest by a bullet, a 29-year-old Houma man was hit in the right leg and a 28-year-old Raceland man was hit twice in the right let. All three required medical attention.

Chatman is spotted allegedly firing in video surveillance detectives obtained from multiple businesses near the Waffle House.

Detectives located Chatman later in the week during a traffic stop in Thibodaux. He remains in the Terrebonne jail, charged with three counts of attempted second-degree murder, in lieu of $1 million

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crimestoppers or the sheriff’s office at 985-876-2500.
