Terrebonne Parish President Gordon Dove said the Morganza Spillway will not open on June 9.

The Parish President sent a text message to The Times this afternoon stating "Morganza will NOT be opened on Sunday, June 9. No new date set. USACE monitoring forecasts."

The new development marks another delay in the opening date, which was originally set for June 2, but has since been pushed back multiple times.

That's good news for Terrebonne Parish, as the opening of the spillway will divert water into the Atchafalaya Basin, which could cause flooding to portions of Western Terrebonne Parish.
