Christa Duplantis-Prather has won re-election to the Terrebonne Parish Council District 5 seat after defeating challenger Chris Domangue in a close run-off election.

Duplantis-Prather, other party, received 1,230 votes for 52 percent of the vote. Republican Domangue finished with 1,131 votes for the remaining 48 percent.

Duplantis-Prather will assume her fifth term on the Terrebonne Parish Council. She has represented District 5 for the last four years, and also held the seat from 2004-08. Prior to that, she represented District 4 for two terms from 1996 to 2004.


Duplantis-Prather thanked her constituents for giving her another four years in office.

“To be re-elected, it touched my heart because they believed in me,” she said.

Duplantis-Prather intends to revitalize the east side of her district. The councilwoman also intends to focus on ensuring her district is safe from the dangers of both water and crime


“I’m all about drainage, sewerage and taking care of crime. And I want to move District 5 forward,” Duplantis-Prather said.
