Early voting for the Dec. 8 election ends Saturday. Terrebonne Parish Registrar of Voters Linda Rodrigue encourages those still wanting to cast ballots can do so at the Registrar of Voters offices in their respective parishes between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

“There are only two things on the [Terrebonne Parish] ballot, so it is a short ballot,” Rodrigue said. “People just need to show identification and vote.”

The Terrebonne Parish Registrar of Voters office is located on the first floor of the Courthouse Annex Building near the ground-floor entrance at Goode and School streets.

In Lafourche Parish, the registrar’s office is located at 307 W. Fourth St. in Thibodaux, or at 16421 E. Main St. in Cut Off.

St. Mary Parish residents may vote early at 301 Third St. in Morgan City or 500 Main St. in Franklin.

As for Election Day, polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. “We hope to be busy,” Rodrigue said, admitting voter turnout is not expected to be as high as it was during the Nov. 6 general election.

Tri-Parish ballot issues include voters in all three parishes casting ballots to select a new judge for the 1st Circuit Court, Dist. 1, Div. B. Candidates include 18th Circuit Court Judge William C. Dupont and Nicholls State University business law professor Mitch Theriot.

In Terrebonne Parish, voters will be asked to approve or reject a half-cent sales tax that could generate $120 million for completion of the Morganza-to-the-Gulf levee and floodgate storm surge protection system.

Lockport voters will select between Sharon Robichaux Guidry and Ralph Sapia to fill a town council position.

In Golden Meadow voters will be asked to select two town council members from the field of candidates that includes Mike Billiot, Troy Dufrene, Lindberg “Bap” Lorraine Jr. and Priscilla Mounic.

Voters in the Bayou Lafourche Fresh Water District will decide if a 2.11 mill property tax should be adopted. In turn, North Lafourche Conservation and Levee District voters will consider a 1 percent sales tax.

St. Mary Parish voters are among those that will decide if Rep. Charles Boustany or Rep. Jeff Landry will represent the newly drawn 3rd Congressional District.

Morgan City voters will select a new mayor between Lee A. Dragna and Frank “Boo” Grizzaffi.
