Community activists Cherry and Sherry Wilmore are accepting donations for their third annual Laptop of Love fundraiser. The Wilmore sisters, both raised in foster care, launched the program in 2020, in an effort to provide high school seniors who are in foster care with resources to build their future.

Donations will be used to provide laptops to graduating seniors in Terrebonne Parish, Lafourche Parish, St. Charles Parish, St. John Parish, Assumption Parish, and St. James Parish. Since 2020, the Laptop of Love program has donated 20 laptops to high school seniors in preparation for college. This year, their goal is to raise $20,000.

“Our ultimate goal is to be a blessing to a population that we have personal experiences with. We understand the struggle that it takes to get a high school diploma when you’re moving around to different environments and can’t get the right footing. They have someone who sees them and understands their situation because we’ve walked in their shoes and understand what it’s like to not feel secure. Having the opportunity to provide these laptops gives children the gift of educating themselves while entering the next phase of life,” said Sherry Wilmore.
