Explore Houma is proud to announce it is the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Obie Award for exceptional outdoor advertising. This esteemed award, presented by the Out of Home Advertising Association of America (OAAA), recognizes creative excellence in outdoor advertising across the nation.

In partnership with Lamar Advertising Agency, Explore Houma’s award-winning “Pinch My Tail” campaign features a double-stacked billboard located on Highway 90 heading west towards Gray and includes a whopping 30-foot, 400-pound 3D crawfish to promote the Bayou Country Crawfish Trail. The campaign stood out for its artistic creativity, effective communication and ability to engage and connect with travellers.

“Receiving the Obie Award is a tremendous honor and a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication,” said Sondra Corbitt, Executive Director at Explore Houma. “This accolade highlights our commitment to promoting Houma’s unique culture and heritage.”

This campaign is part of a larger strategy by Explore Houma to boost tourism and economic development within Terrebonne Parish. It was praised for its ability to capture the essence of Houma and its rich culinary traditions, enticing visitors to experience a taste of what Houma has to offer.

The Obie Award is a recognition of the highest caliber in the outdoor advertising industry, and winning it places Explore Houma among an elite group of marketers who have successfully leveraged the power of outdoor media.
