Terrebonne Parish officials are being overwhelmed by inquiries about problems at a Bourg high school, but have found NO truth to various rumors being cited.

Col. Terry Daigre of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office said there was an influx of calls to the Sheriff’s Office and to South Terrebonne High School. These calls are in reference to South Terrebonne High School. Parents and concerned citizens are asking about alleged threats made on the school.

“As of this time, The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has not been provided with any evidence to show where anyone made any threats about the school,” Col. Daigre said. “There haven’t been any acts of violence that occurred at the school. The rumors about someone being caught with a weapon at the school are also false.”

Col. Daigre assured that an investigation is being conducted. If it is established that someone made a threat of violence, the proper action will be taken. Col. Daigre also advised if the investigation reveals that someone purposely a rumor, in order to cause panic, that individual could also face criminal charges.

If anyone has information that can assist, please contact Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. Correct and accurate information being relayed to law enforcement will assist in the investigation. Spreading rumors and making false social media post will only prolong the investigation, Col. Daigre said.
