FEMA Assistance for Households Tops $1 Billion, Lafourche $96 Million, Terrebonne $121 Million

FEMA has provided more than $1 billion in grants to more than more than 550 thousand households in the 25 parishes approved for recovery assistance after Hurricane Ida.

For Lafourche Parish, more than $96.9 million in individual assistance has been approved for more than 27,267 thousand households, including

  • more than $42 million in repair assistance
  • more than $18 million in temporary rental assistance
  • more than $29  million in assistance for other needs.

For Terrebonne Parish, more than $121 million in individual assistance has been approved for more than 32,499 thousand households, including


  • more than $48 million in repair assistance
  • more than $26 million in temporary rental assistance
  • more than $37  million in assistance for other needs.

More than 4100 households are checked into hotel rooms paid for directly by FEMA.

760 of those households are from Terrebonne Parish.

270 of those households are from Lafourche Parish.


November 29 is the deadline to apply with FEMA—online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 800-621-3362, or at a Disaster Recovery Center.

The Disaster Recovery Centers will be closed Thanksgiving weekend, from Nov. 25 – Nov. 28, reopening on Nov. 29, the final day to apply for federal assistance.
