Running with no party affiliation, D.L. Wealth Management financial planner Chris Domangue has entered the race for the Terrebonne Parish Council District 5 seat currently held by Republican Johnny Pizzolatto and also sought by former council member and Democrat Christa Duplantis.

Domangue said that he has specific issues he would like to address if elected and include the revitalization of downtown Houma. “I’m going to bring in fresh ideas to address some of the same old problems we’ve been having,” he said. “For example I’ve been researching the concept of a splash park for children. These have started going up all over the country as a cost-effective amusement. There’s already a very popular one in Bayou Vista.”

Technology is a central focus for Domangue who said he has the needed experience in computer programming to push for improvements in the workings of parish government. “We’ve come a long way in the last couple of years, but there is still a long way to go,” he said. “We must invest in technologies that make us more efficient and save us money in the long run.”

Domangue was raised in Terrebonne Parish and holds a master of business administration from Louisiana Tech University. He is active in community work with the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce and South Central Industrial Association. He also serves on the board of directors for the Krewe of Terreanians.

As a candidate, Domangue has set up an interactive website at www.domangue2011.com.
