Terrebonne General Medical Center will be doing free cancer screenings in September.


The Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center announced the screenings, which are made free by donor gifts.

Free breast cancer screenings will be offered on Sept. 9 from 9-11 a.m., then from noon-2 p.m. They will take place at Sam’s Club 2174 on Martin Luther King Boulevard in Houma.

Free prostate and colorectal cancer screening will be on Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to noon. They will take place at TGMC’s Medical Atrium on 8120 Main Street in Houma.


An additional prostate cancer screening will be held on Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Skinners Barbershop at 1001 Railroad Avenue in Morgan City.

The screenings are free only if someone has not been screened within the past 12 months.


Insurance will be billed for mammograms. For those without insurance, there will be no charge.

The event is a partnership between Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center and 100 Black Men.
