Houma has been named “Cleanest City” for those among its size – with 15,000 to 44,999 residents – in Louisiana, by the by the Louisiana Garden Club Federation.

Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet said Monday he was proud to announce that Houma had been named the Cleanest City among cities in its region.


“Winning the Cleanest City contest for our region was truly a team effort,” Claudet said. “I want to thank everyone involved in making this contest a success as we look forward to winning the state level competition.”

In winning this award, Houma will now compete for the state of Louisiana Cleanest City title with other cities having comparable populations. The date is yet to be determined for the state level contest; however, the same route from the district contest will be judged.

The annual Cleanest City Contest carries the goal of increasing civic pride and improving the visual appeal of towns and cities in the state.
