After a successful Cast Iron Cookoff fundraiser, The Houma Rotary Foundation presented a $10,000 donation to the Terrebonne Fire Chief Association. The donation will be used to purchase carbon monoxide monitors for the 13 fire departments in Terrebonne Parish.

“We are grateful to the Houma Rotary Foundation for their generous donation,” Bayou Cane Fire Protection District EMS Chief Toby Henry said. “The carbon monoxide monitors will help protect our firefighters as they enter potentially dangerous environments while assisting the communities we serve.”

The Houma Rotary Cast Iron Cookoff held on February 25th welcomed a record crowd of nearly 1500 who enjoyed live music, pub crawl, and tasting dishes cooked in cast iron from nearly 35 cooking teams.

“Many thanks to all our cooking teams, volunteers, and the community for making this event such a success,” Cal McKey, Rotary Club of Houma President, said. “We are proud to be able to support our local first responders while also giving our community a family-fun event to enjoy together.”

Remaining proceeds from the cookoff will benefit other service projects of the Rotary Club of Houma including youth leadership and veteran programs.
