Lafourche Crossing closed due to high water

As of 9:00 AM, today, Sept. 14, 2021, the Houma Tunnel was opened to traffic. Thanks goes out to the Houma Police Department, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for Trustees, TPCG Public Works Solid Waste Division, and Pelican Waste Management which transported five truck loads of debris out of tunnel gutters.
With the expected rains, this debris could have caused the pumps to fail, resulting in closure of the Tunnel. Well done, everyone, for a fast job with minimum inconvenience to motorists.
