Joe Biden has been elected the 46th President of the United States of America, according to the Associated Press.

The Democratic nominee has 284 electoral votes, putting him 14 votes over the 270 needed to win the White House and defeat incumbent President Donald Trump, according to AP.



The announcement comes after the key battleground state of Pennsylvania was called for the former Vice President.

Kamala Harris will become the first woman and first Black person and person of Indian descent to become Vice President.
