Keep Louisiana Beautiful, the state’s leading community improvement organization, seeks programs and activities to fund its Healthy Communities Grant program and is calling for letters of intent to be submitted by March 11, 2022. Proposed programs and activities should reduce litter and waste, increase recycling, strengthen litter enforcement, and/or promote environmental education.

The Healthy Communities Grant is a reimbursement grant supporting projects and programs through funding allotments ranging from $2,500 up to $8,000 per recipient. Reimbursements will be dispersed, upon receiving proper receipts and reports on December 1 and May 1. At least a 10% cash match or in-kind donation is required.

Louisiana non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations, governmental agencies, schools, and universities, Keep Louisiana Beautiful affiliates, and pre-certified Affiliates located in Louisiana are eligible to apply.

Recipients of the 2021-2022 Healthy Communities Grant program include the City of Alexandria, Keep Covington Beautiful, Keep Ouachita Parish Beautiful, Keep Terrebonne Beautiful, Mid City Redevelopment Alliance, Parish Proud, Rotary Club of Crowley, Shreveport Green, South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center, St. Martin Sheriff’s Department, Tangipahoa Parish Government, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Women’s Healing Center.

Interested applicants must submit a Letter of Intent and be invited to formally apply for the Healthy Communities Grant. Those selected to apply will be notified on or before March 21, 2022. Applications are due on or before April 15, 2022.

Since 2004, Keep Louisiana Beautiful has awarded over $3 million through the Healthy Communities Grant program.

“We are proud to offer the Healthy Communities Grant program to fund projects on the local level,” says Susan Russell, Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful. “The passion and innovation we see demonstrated by each recipient gives us hope that we are working toward a cleaner, greener, more beautiful Louisiana.”
