The Krewe de Bonne Terre has moved their parade, which traditionally rolls on Mardi Gras day, to Sunday, Feb, 7. The parade will follow the Krewe of Montegut Children’s Parade, which begins at 1 p.m.

Bonne Terre’s low membership this year translated into fewer floats than the parish requires for the krewe to roll, according to Bonne Terre board member Rhonda Dupre. Terrebonne requires krewes have at least 10 floats to parade on parish streets.

Dupre said Bonne Terre rents its floats from the Krewe of Montegut Children’s Parade. The children’s krewe will roll, after which, the floats will be unloaded with the youngster’s beads and reloaded with the adult’s gear, at which time it will follow the same parade route.

“This has been the hardest year recruiting new members,” Dupre said. “I am very concerned a 46-year tradition will be ending.”
