A 20-year-old Golden Meadow man has confessed to having a role in a pair of murders last week, according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office authorities.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 7, deputies responded to Stanley Gisclair’s house after receiving a call from a relative that he was found unresponsive.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Gisclair had severe trauma to the face.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives spent several hours processing the scene and they learned that the incident happened overnight on Nov. 6.

Through investigation, authorities discovered Dayton Duet, 20, of Golden Meadow, was a person of interest.

Authorities located the suspect and took him in for questioning.

During that time, the suspect allegedly told authorities he went to Gisclair’s house and knocked on the door.

When the elderly man answered, Duet told police he struck him in the face several times with an axe, before leaving the scene.

Duet told authorities he had no motive, but just had a motive to kill.

During questioning, Duet also admitted to his involvement in the murder of Wayne Matherne, who had been found dead in his house on Nov. 4.

Authorities had previously arrested Cameron Sands, 25, for his role in the crime, but now Duet faces charges for the crime, as well.

According to authorities, the suspect said he was at the residence at the time of Matherne’s murder. He allegedly admitted to striking Matherne with a cane, before leaving the scene.

Duet is charged with first-degree murder in Gisclair’s death and second-degree murder in Matherne’s case. •
