Look no further.
The Lafourche Parish Council on Aging will host its annual Heath Fair tomorrow.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the agency’s office, located at 4876 La. Highway 1 in Mathews.
Flu shots will be given free of charge to anyone regardless of age. But that’s not the only reason to attend according to Council on Aging Executive Director Charlene Rodriguez. Vendors will be in attendance providing information on what is available to Lafourche Parish seniors.
“It gives the community the opportunity to find out what is available to our elderly. So many times our clients are not aware of what is available to them,” Rodriguez said.
Services in which the Council on Aging provides include Medicaid application assistance, meals, meal delivery, homemaker services and transportation services, among many other things. Visit www.lafourchecoa.org for a full list of services provided by the Lafourche Parish Council on Aging.
The Health Fair, which has been held for the past eight years, can also be a beneficial one to those who are under the age of 60 but care about someone who is above that age.
“People should come to the event to get information that is available to assist their aging parents, grandparents, etc.,” Rodriguez said.
Plus, those younger than 60 may receive vital information from the vendors as well.
“The vendors that are there are not always just for elderly. They could help anyone,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez expects between 80 and 100 people to attend the event.
