Thibodaux street becomes one-way

Lafourche Parish has begun the process to become a certified ACT Work Ready Community. This process was initialized by Parish President Archie Chaisson and Assessor Wendy Thibodeaux who share a common vision to retain and attract business and industry with local talent. This certification will broaden the Parish’s ability to develop a strong workforce pipeline, desirable to employers and current and future citizens.
The ACT® Work Ready Communities (ACT® WRC) initiative empowers states, regions, and counties/parishes with data, processes and tools that drive economic growth by identifying skills gaps and quantifying the skill level of their workforce. Participants leverage the ACT® WorkKeys® National Career Readiness Certificate® (ACT® WorkKeys® NCRC®) to measure and close skills gaps and build common frameworks that link, align, and match their workforce development efforts.
Both President Chaisson and Assessor Thibodeaux identified the ACT Work Ready Communities program as a catalyst that would align local education and workforce partnerships to ultimately produce a skilled employee base to meet economic demands. The Lafourche Parish Economic Development Department will take the lead on the initiative with much assistance from the Lafourche Parish School District, Fletcher Technical Community College, and others.
The ACT Work Ready Communities initiative provides a community-based framework that 1) links workforce development to education, 2) aligns with the economic development needs of the community, and 3) matches individuals to jobs based on skill levels. Once all goals are met, Lafourche Parish will be certified as a Work Ready Community.
