Lafourche Parish School Board to select new superintendent on Tuesday
The Lafourche Parish School Board will decide on a new superintendent on the night of Tuesday, Jan. 21 at the school board office building, said Brooke Huddleston, board president.
The candidates are Kevin George, a former superintendent and CEO of the New Beginnings School Foundation; Chris Kimball, St. Charles Parish School District Executive Director of Secondary Schools; Jarod Martin, Acting Lafourche Superintendent; Dr. Charles Michel, Executive Director of Bayou Land Families Helping Families; and Dr. Michael Robinson, a former superintendent for Pine Bluff School District in Arkansas.
Members of the board interviewed the candidates on Thursday, Jan. 16.
Former superintendent Dr. Louis Voiron’s tenure ended on Dec. 31, 2019 after board members unanimously approved to buy him out of his contract for $220,000.
Voiron had been on medical leave since July 2019 prior to the agreement.
