Lafourche surpasses 80,000 tests; state adds over 5,000 new cases since Thursday

Today, the Louisiana Department of Health is reporting the total number of cases has risen to 321,058. That’s 5,780 more cases since Thursday. 291,079 are confirmed; 29,979 are probable.

 

The state is reporting 49 new deaths, bringing the total to 7,537 deaths. 7,162 are confirmed; 375 are probable.

 

The total of presumed recovered as of 12/28/20 is 263,712, which is 16,211 more than last week.


 

Lafourche Parish is reporting 6,369 cases. There are 5,424 confirmed and 945 probable. That’s 119 new cases since Thursday. They are reporting 163 deaths; 155 are confirmed and 8 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 17-23 is 7.70%, down 10.50% from the week prior, which was 8.60%. Incidence is 235.44.

 

Terrebonne Parish is reporting 6,413 cases. There are 5,680 confirmed and 733 probable. That’s 153 more cases since Thursday. They are reporting 150 deaths; 143 are confirmed and 7 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 17-23 is 11.60%, up 10.50% from the week prior, which was 10.50%. Incidence is 292.74.

 

Statewide, there are 1,833 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, 204 are on ventilators. That’s 102 more patients since Thursday, and 2 more on ventilators.


 

The total of tests reported today is 4,444,069, which is 43,920 more tests than Thursday. There are 4,226,487 molecular tests and 217,582 antigen tests.

 

There have been a total of 80,716 tests in Lafourche (74,682 molecular and 6,034 antigen) and 78,281 tests in Terrebonne (74,086 molecular and 4,195 antigen). That’s 1,044 more tests in Lafourche and 1,283 more in Terrebonne since Thursday.
