When you give a librarian a little bit of extra time and a 3D printer, what do you expect?! Of course they will come up with a way to help others in their time of need.

Terrebonne Parish Library System is now able to assist local medical personnel by using its 3D printer to create mask extenders.

TPL is honored to offer its resources for frontline staff in this time of need.

The design was made possible by the many generous people sharing ideas throughout the world, namely the one seen here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4249113/files

Mask extenders take pressure off of staff ears and also help to adjust the size of the masks themselves. Currently, the library is 3D-printing mask extenders for Houma Surgi-Center Urology Clinic and Ochsner Central Supply while also reaching out to other local medical facilities.

Deliveries of mask extenders are on a first come, first served basis. The speed of delivery will depend on the demand.

The library incites interested facilities to contact reference librarian Rachel at rlecompte@mytpl.org to request mask extenders for your staff.
