For the last 30 years, Larry Callais has been a familiar face at M C Bank & Trust Co. in Morgan City.

He was recently surprised at an early morning celebration by the staff and Wallace Carline, bank board chairman.

A native of Golden Meadow, Callais was raised in Cut Off. He and wife Katherine have three children and three grandchildren.

The 1967 graduate of Nicholls State University received his Master’s Degree in 1975. Callais graduated from the American Bankers Association’s National Personnel School at the University of Oklahoma in 1979. He also graduated from the National School of Bank Administration at the University of Wisconsin in 1983, the School of Supervisory Training at Louisiana State University in 1985, and received CPA status in 1991.

Callais was a business development instructor at Morgan City High School from 1972-1977, and began St. Mary Parish’s first Cooperative Distributive Business Education (CDBE) program.

He joined M C Bank in 1977, serving in various capacities before being named president and chief executive officer in January 1999.
