Two weeks after Coca-Cola announced plans to halt warehouse operations mid-July at its Thibodaux bottling plant, job fairs are being planned to help displaced employees find work.

Kel Villarrubia, vice president of public affairs for the Louisiana Bottling Co., said in a press release the closure is part of an effort to maximize efficiencies and effectiveness in a challenging economic environment.

The beverages that are distributed in the Tri-parish area will be sourced from Coca-Cola bottling facilities in New Orleans and New Iberia, costing the jobs of 35 associates in Thibodaux.

The Louisiana Workforce Commission’s Rapid Response team will offer re-adjustment and job counseling services to workers slated to lose their jobs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, June 21, and Tuesday, June 22, at the Coca-Cola facility at 1300 Lynn St.

A career fair for those planning to relocate is set for Wednesday, June 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Peltier Park Recreation Center.
