A Thibodaux business owner will maintain her position on the Florida-based International Hurricane Protection Association board of directors for at least two more years.

Linda Eschette, owner of Nu Code Shutters, was elected for her third term by a vote of the IHPA membership. The board consists of three manufacturers, three suppliers, three contractors and one associate, either an engineer or architect. The election meeting was held last month in Deerfield Beach, Fla.

IHPA aims to unify all aspects of hurricane protection and to educate home owners, business owners and local government officials to minimize hurricane damage.

Eschette is the first and only Louisiana member to serve on the board. She said her most recent accomplishment is her request of clarification on a ruling related to the retail taxation of storm shutter devices, a ruling the attorney general is expected to release soon.
