One of the groups staked with promoting the great things about the area has a new identity.

The Bayou Lafourche Area Convention and Visitors Bureau announced on Thursday that it will rebrand as “Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou”.

The move, according to organizers, isn’t about a change as mud has it is embracing a culture and an identity that has been in place throughout the area’s history.

“Visitors to our parish immediately recognize what makes us special, and much of that has to do with our Cajun culture and our distinct geography,” said Timothy Bush, the president and CEO of the Bayou Lafourche Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Everything we do and have here is defined by the Bayou – our food, our festivals, our outdoor recreation and, most significantly, our culture.”

The campaign will heavily emphasize the “Bayou Lafourche language”. Through using terms like “up the Bayou,” “down the Bayou,” and “across the Bayou,” the effort will aim to show locals all of the many things there are to do in the area throughout the year.
