The Terrebonne Economic Development Authority has announced plans to offer a professional training program for unlicensed contractors in the construction industry.

On the weekend of June 4-5, TEDA will sponsor the Contractor’s College at the South Central Planning and Development Commission headquarters in Houma.

The training program is designed to prepare contractors for the state’s licensing examination. The two-day session will focus on ways to improve business as it relates to credit, capital, capacity and credibility.

To pre-register for the classes, call (985) 873-6890 or email sbella@tpeda.org or kgilbert@tpeda.org. Training is also open to entrepreneurs interested in starting a construction business.

Funding for the June weekend class is provided by a grant from Entergy Louisiana, the Louisiana Loan and Technical Assistance Program, and the South Louisiana Economic Council.

Additional sponsors include Louisiana Small Business Development Center, South Central Planning and Development Commission, Options for Independence and Fletcher Technical Community College, according to TEDA officials.
