Houma Fire Department is on-scene of a major commercial structure fire on Simmons Drive on the east side of Houma, next to the tunnel.
The fire was reported at approximately 5:15 AM. Upon arrival it was noted the building was approximately 80 percent involved. The incident commander quickly went to a 4th alarm. Bringing in Village East, Bourg, Montegut, Little Caillou, and Grand Caillou Fire Departments as well as off duty HFD personnel for manpower. Acadian Ambulance, Houma Police Department, and Entergy crews also assisted with this incident.
Crews are currently on-scene performing overhaul. Simmons Dr remains closed from John Deere tractor to the intersection of Saddi St.
The fire is under investigation at this time.
