Most Tri-parish natives survived the first full weekend on Mardi Gras, enjoying the parades while on their best behavior.

But a few locals weren’t as lucky, and were either arrested or given summons for their weekend misdeeds.

The Houma Police Department said it handed out nine total summons during a three-parade slate from Feb. 21-23.

During the Krewe of Hercules Parade on Friday night, HPD said it issued five summons during the six-hour parade for offenses ranging from disturbing the peace, resisting an arrest and crossing a barricade.

Authorities said that the parade had a brief delay in its route after a float struck a wire on Main Street near Morgan Street.

A day later for the Krewe of Aquarius Parade, authorities said they handed out four summons after responding to eight complaints. Authorities said the charges issued ranged from disturbing the peace with loud and abusive language to underage drinking.

The Krewe of Hycinthians/Titans Parade rolled this weekend on Sunday, but no summons were given during the parade. Authorities thanked the crowd at that parade for its behavior, but added the caveat that crowd turnout was low because of rainy weather.

In Thibodaux, officers made one arrest during the Krewe of Ambrosia Parade on Saturday night.

During that incident, authorities said that Sean Harvey, 22, was taken into custody after he allegedly threw an ice chest of beer and a bag of screws off the float.

Authorities said Harvey was noticeably intoxicated and tried to resist authorities when being taken into custody.

Taking a look forward to the rest of the Mardi Gras season, it appears that umbrellas may need to be kept handy.

The National Weather Service said that there is a 60 percent chance of rain on Friday night in the area.

After an expected dry Saturday and Sunday, the forecast shifts back to soggy for Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras with a 70 percent chance of rain forecast for Monday and a 60 percent chance on Fat Tuesday.

High temperatures are expected to be in the high 60s to low 70s throughout the later part of the week with low temperatures dipping into the high 40s.
