UL-Monroe team wins bass tourney

A team of anglers from Monroe took home the Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Tournament, hosted by Nicholls State University.

The duo of Tyler Stewart and Nick Joiner, of UL-Monroe, won the title, weighing 15 fish at 42 pounds.

That total easily outlasted the 33-pound, 5-ounce tally that Gunner Durrett and Austin Watkins, of Louisiana Tech, weighed.

Nicholls had two teams in the top six, led by Matthew Benoit and Matthew LeBlanc, who finished third. They weighed at 31-pounds, 11-ounces.
