Nicholls State University has canceled classes and activities for July 12 due to Tropical Storm Barry.


Thursday night classes will continue as scheduled, however, students are asked to remain weather aware and contact their professor if they do not believe they can safely travel to campus.

The Nicholls Emergency Preparedness Committee has initiated a Phase III alert in accordance with the university’s Hurricane Emergency Plan, which can be located at emergency.nicholls.edu.

Campus administrative offices are also closed on Friday.


The campus is expected to resume normal business activities on Monday.
