Artist Kenneth Baskin will explore harmony in machines in an exhibit at the Art Gallery at Nicholls State University.

The gallery will showcase “Mechanical Machinations” from Jan. 19 to Feb. 5.

Baskin’s work explores the integration of actual and abstract machine parts. Themes include:

  • balance and instability
  • domination and submission
  • tension and ease
  • opposition and compromise.

“My artwork provides viewers with a sense of movement, the implications of movement and the suggestion of time and age,” Baskin said.

Baskin has displayed his artwork in over 20 states and in the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taipei, Taiwan. Honors include the emerging artist award from the National Council on Education for the Ceramics. He is an assistant professor of ceramics at McNeese State University.

The gallery at Talbot 111 is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
