The Nicholls State University campus will move online Monday due to Tropical Depression Cristobal.

The Nicholls Emergency Preparedness Committee has initiated a Phase III alert after the National Weather Service placed the Houma-Thibodaux region under a Tropical Storm Watch.

Cristobal is expected to make landfall Sunday night or Monday morning as a tropical storm, potentially bringing several inches of rain and winds above 40 mph.

In-person classes on Monday will move online, and faculty and staff will work from home. Online courses will continue as planned.

Facilities and maintenance personnel will report to campus at 10 a.m. to assess and clear any debris from campus after the storm clears our area.

Although students are not being evacuated from campus at this time, residence hall students are encouraged to return home to be with their families. Students who cannot return home may remain in the residence halls until further notice. Food service for all on-campus residents will continue until further notice.

Colonel Day Camps have also been canceled for Monday. Classes, camps and offices will return to normal on Tuesday.

The Emergency Preparedness Committee will continue to monitor the speed and path of the storm and take additional action, if necessary. Please continue to follow www.nicholls.edu/hurricane for updates.
