It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and The Nicholls State University Music Department is ready to celebrate a night of festive, fun, and familiar holiday tunes.

The Holiday concert will be conducted by Dr. Valerie Francis, Dr. John St. Marie, James Alexander, and Dr. Jason Ladd. The night will feature performances from all ensembles of the music department including the Gospel Choir, Camerata, and The Wind Ensemble.

“We began hosting the concert about 5 years ago as a Christmas celebration and fundraiser for the music department. When Covid hit we had to cancel it, and we haven’t done it for two years, initially the goal was to host it as a fundraiser but this year we felt with the hurricane and everything that’s been going on we’d make it a free event,” said Dr.Michael Bartnik, who serves as Head of Nicholls Music Department.

“I think it’s going to be a good night of enjoyable music and we encourage the community to come out and join us,” Bartnik added.

The event is free and open to the public. Guests will enjoy live performances of a collection of holiday favorites from 7:30 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, at The Mary M. Danos theater located in Talbot Hall on Nicholls State University campus.
