Here is an update concerning the potential for tropical cyclone development in the Gulf of Mexico.

Overview:

There is a LOW (10 %) chance of tropical cyclone development over the next 48 hours.

This system is forecast to move generally north and could bring some impacts to the north central Gulf coast over the next day or so.

Confidence:

Surface pressures remain high, and environmental conditions do not appear favorable for significant development before this system moves inland over the central Gulf Coast.

Impacts:

Regardless of development, this system will bring a threat of heavy rain, gusty winds, and elevated tides to coastal Mississippi and southeast Louisiana! Some minor river flooding may occur depending on antecedent rainfall.

The attached graphic highlights the outlook for development with this system.
