Procession Held for Fallen Marine, Houma Native

A procession was held earlier today in honor of Lcpl Austin Michael Lirette, who passed away on December 20, 2020. Lirette, a native and resident of Houma, served in the United States Marine Corps.

Lirette was escorted from Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans to Samart Funeral Home in Gray by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office and Houma Police Department.


Members of the Bayou Blue Volunteer Fire Department and the Bayou Cane Fire Department were also present during the procession. 

In a statement, the Bayou Cane Fire Protection District said, “We were honored to participate in the return home of Lance Corporal Austin Lirette to Terrebonne Parish. We would like to extend our condolences to his family, friends and the United States Marine Corps for their loss.”

He is survived by his parents, Rachel Molaison LeBoeuf and husband Myron; siblings, Breanna Breaux, Tyler LeBoeuf, Devin LeBoeuf and Amber LeBoeuf; grandparents, Patrick and Phyllis Lirette, Sharon and John Jaubert, Myron and Alice LeBoeuf, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
