Southdown Bar announces the 15th Annual Crawfish Boil Off benefitting CASA of Terrebonne. The event will be held on Saturday, May 7, at 11 a.m., at the Thibodaux Regional Multi-Specialty Clinic in Houma, at located at 1238 St.Charles Street.

Presented by the Herman J. Joseph Courville Foundation, the day will feature live entertainment of Beep Beep and the Jeeps, a live auction, activities for kids, and a competition for the best tasting crawfish. Admission for the boil-off is $5 for adults and children over 2-years of age. All of the proceeds from the crawfish sales and the auction will go to CASA of Terrebonne.

CASA of Terrebonne said the boil-off was inspired by a conversation between a few men at Southdown Bar in Houma and the rest is history. “The idea for the boil-off came up when a few men, who were sitting at Southdown Bar, were arguing over who could boil the best tasting crawfish. So began the “Boil-Off.” reads a statement from CASA of Terrebonne.“

Herman Courville and Amos Mosely decided to have a contest and invite people to compete for the best tasting crawfish. In the first year, $250 was raised, and because Herman’s wife Cindy was a CASA volunteer, he rounded the funds up to $500 and donated it to CASA.  From here, the Annual Crawfish Boil-Off was born.  In the second year,  $325 was raised,  then rounded up to $500, and donated to CASA. In years three through twelve, over $200, 000 has been raised for CASA.
