State sees nearly 4,000 new cases and 92 new hospitalizations

Today, the Louisiana Department of Health is reporting the total number of cases has risen to 304,485. That’s 3,946 more cases since yesterday. 277,887 are confirmed; 26,598 are probable.

 

The state is reporting 61 new deaths, bringing the total to 7,397 deaths. 7,034 are confirmed; 363 are probable.

 

The total of presumed recovered as of 12/21/20 is 247,501, which is 14,776 more than last week.


 

Lafourche Parish is reporting 6,075 cases. There are 5,235 confirmed and 840 probable. That’s 100 new cases since yesterday. They are reporting 161 deaths; 153 are confirmed and 8 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 12-Dec. 16 is 8.70%, down 13.00% from the week prior, which was 10.00%.

 

Terrebonne Parish is reporting 5,946 cases. There are 5,348 confirmed and 598 probable. That’s 108 more cases since yesterday. They are reporting 148 deaths; 141 are confirmed and 7 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 10-Dec. 16 is 10.50%, up 31.30% from the week prior, which was 8.00%.

 

Statewide, there are 1,689 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, 218 are on ventilators. That’s 92 more patients since yesterday, and 17 more on ventilators.


 

The total of tests reported today is 4,315,433, which is 37,356 more tests than yesterday. There are 4,115,510 molecular tests and 199,923 antigen tests.

 

There have been a total of 78,187 tests in Lafourche (72,797 molecular and 5,390 antigen) and 75,524 tests in Terrebonne (71,821 molecular and 3,703 antigen). That’s 699 more tests in Lafourche and 448 more in Terrebonne since yesterday.
