State sees over 4,000 new cases, 83 new hospitalizations

Today, the Louisiana Department of Health is reporting the total number of cases has risen to 326,648. That’s 4,454 more cases since yesterday. 295,825 are confirmed; 30,823 are probable.

 

The state is reporting 50 new deaths, bringing the total to 7,635 deaths. 7,241 are confirmed; 394 are probable.

 

The total of presumed recovered as of 12/28/20 is 263,712, which is 16,211 more than last week.


 

Lafourche Parish is reporting ,6,485 cases. There are 5,489 confirmed and 996 probable. That’s 97 new cases since yesterday. They are reporting 163 deaths; 155 are confirmed and 8 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 17-23 is 7.70%, down 10.50% from the week prior, which was 8.60%. Incidence is 235.44.

 

Terrebonne Parish is reporting 6,601 cases. There are 5,748 confirmed and 853 probable. That’s 157 more cases since yesterday. They are reporting 154 deaths; 146 are confirmed and 8 are probable. Percent positivity for the week of Dec. 17-23 is 11.60%, up 10.50% from the week prior, which was 10.50%. Incidence is 292.74.

 

Statewide, there are 1,974 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, 205 are on ventilators. That’s 83 more patients since yesterday, and 2 less on ventilators.


 

The total of tests reported today is 4,500,223, which is 46,592 more tests than yesterday. There are 4,276,932 molecular tests and 223,291 antigen tests.

 

There have been a total of 81,453 tests in Lafourche (75,154 molecular and 6,299 antigen) and 79,115 tests in Terrebonne (74,580 molecular and 4,535 antigen). That’s 606 more tests in Lafourche and 635 more in Terrebonne since yesterday.
