Terrebonne Parish President Gordon Dove has issued a voluntary evacuation for the parish with Tropical Storm Barry nearing a weekend landfall.

The evacuation will begin at 7 a.m. tomorrow, July 12.

At that time, the parish will also open shelters for people in low-lying or vulnerable areas.

Those shelters are located at the Houma Municipal Auditorium, located at 880 Verret Street and also the East Houma Gym, located at 126 Boundary Road.

Good Earth Transit has announced that it will also not ride locally beginning tomorrow and until further notice, while waiting on Barry’s landfall.
