“As a high school student, I have always enjoyed all my classes. One of my favorite classes though was American History. Learning about my country’s history and the people who created it is fascinating to me. When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my closest friends, spending quiet time reading my Bible, and going on random trips on the weekends with my parents. I am also quite interested in politics, so occasionally I like to watch videos that educate me more on what is happening in our government and world today. My goals for this year of my high school career are to make the best grades I possibly can, and learn to the best of my ability so that I will be fully equipped for college. After high school, I plan on attending Nicholls State University, where I will study nursing to become a pediatric nurse and work in a children’s’ hospital. My goal in serving my community is to reach out to more people in need of service here in the U.S. While I am passionate about serving people in third-world countries, and fully support anyone doing so, I still recognize that there are people in need here in this country. On my first mission trip, I traveled to Vero Beach, Florida with my school. I didn’t expect to see so many people there in need of service, and also in need of love. My week there taught me that everywhere we look, there are hurting people calling out for someone to recognize their need. From that, I have gained a passion to serve no matter where I am.”
