Terrebonne General Health System announced today that it has provided employee relief efforts to over 230 employees, thanks in part to generous donations from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation and The Coca-Cola Company.

“It was important to us to assist the Terrebonne General employees who were in need, and is it good to know we have support out there from partners who truly care,” said Tony Herques, Board Chairman, Foundation for Terrebonne General Health System.  “We are very appreciative to receive these generous donations that helped us to accomplish that goal,”  Herques added.

Terrebonne General is the largest healthcare resource provider in Southeast Louisiana, employing over 1,500 team members who reside in the bayou region, where the effects from Hurricane Ida were the most severe.   The Health System has been honored with many prestigious awards and accolades for quality, safety, and patient experience on the state, national and international levels.

“With support from the Blue Cross Foundation and The Coca-Cola Company, the Foundation was able to provide much-needed assistance to employees to aid in their rebuild and recovery efforts,” explained Phyllis Peoples, Terrebonne General president and CEO.   “Amounts funded were significant enough to make a difference to our employees.”

The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Foundation works each day to improve the health and lives of Louisianians by empowering everyday people to do extraordinary good. By building and funding coalitions of friends, families, and neighbors, the Foundation hopes to build a healthier Louisiana, particularly for its children. The Foundation is funded solely by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana but is a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity. In 2020, Blue Cross and the Blue Shield Foundation invested more than $14 million in Louisiana’s communities and nonprofits, with programs and services reaching 6.4 million Louisianians.
