Thibodaux Main Stree, Inc. has some exciting news; they have received a $10,000 grant through the Louisiana Main Street Restoration Incentive Grant Program!

With a dollar-for-dollar match, more than $20,000 will be invested into the interior work of the building known as “The Venetian”. Thibodaux Main Street explained that programs such as the RIG spark restoration efforts, return vacant and/or under-utilized properties into productive use, generate tax revenue, and create jobs. The grant money will go towards restoring property located at 401 Jacksons Street in Downtown Thibodaux. They announced the improvements will transform the vacant building into a mixed-use property with lower commercial and upper residential spaces that will restore the historic building to its glory days of the early 1930s.

The announcement said, “Thanks to Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation, and Louisiana Main Street for making this grant possible. Stay tuned in 2022 for more grant opportunities!”
