Vandebilt Catholic High School announced today that seniors Nicole Pellegrin, Joshua McCain and Brice Valure have earned national academic distinction.

VCHS said that more than 1.6 million juniors across 22,000 high schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Pellegrin has officially been named a Semifinalist from the National Merit Scholarship Program, being ranked among the top 1 percent of PSAT scorers in the country.

She will join 16,000 other Semifinalists from around the country in being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. She's also being awarded the opportunity to continue pursing one of 7,500 National Merit Scholarship Awards.

Nicole is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Pellegrin.

VCHS seniors Joshua McCAin and Brice Valure have also been recognized for their strong academic success.

They've been named Commended Students from the National Merit Scholarship Program, ranking among the top 3 percent of PSAT scores in the country.

They will join about 34,000 Commended Students throughout the country who are recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

Joshua is the son of Dr. John and Dr. Michelle McCain. Brice is the

son of Ms. Stephanie Durocher and Mr. Ross Valure.

The honor the three students achieved is commendable, according to a NMSC spokesman, who commended the students' work.

“These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in the nation," a statement reads.
